"Its time to rebuild and take our solidarity and our union power to the next level — a year when our lives are threatened like never before, and we respond by organizing, and rising up like never before."
“This year we face the most consequential negotiations we have faced in the history of our bargaining unit. A vote for me is a vote for an experienced, fresh, informed perspective and a break away from the way things have always been done.”
Top Priorities:
1. Unite our LBU by engaging members and former reps from both sides of the schism in meaningful dialog, mobilization, and action.
2. Defend, protect, and advance our membership and contract.
3. Increase union Democracy and Participation through outreach and education and increased opportunities for participation.
Top Contract goals:
1. Increase incentives, wages, benefits, and retirement across the board with no concessions from current contract.
2. Implement safe-staffing ratios with disincentives for the employer when they’re broken.
3. End the abusive on-call system.
4. Clear and specific contract language for APRN's

Experience
My name is Jeremy Lapham, MSc, RN, FNP-BC. For the past year I've served as your interim Treasurer/Secretary of UMPNC. I have over 18 years of experience at UM starting in 2003 as an ICU tech on 4 B/C. After finishing my ADN at WCC in 2005 I started in the with the first new grad ER nurse intern program cohort at Michigan Medicine. While working in the ER I was active in workload and eventually elected as Secretary of UMPNC. After serving in this role I started the FNP program at the University of Michigan where I continued to work at UM as a clinical instructor while finishing my degree.
Upon finishing my FNP program I enrolled in the doctoral program at UM achieving doctoral candidacy in 2017 and a second masters Nursing in Systems Leadership and Implementation taking numerous MBA and PhD classes at the Ross School of Business including coursework in negotiations, strategy, and operations. My goal in taking these courses was always to learn the strategies and tactics of the employer to better anticipate and defend against them.
While enrolled in this program also I worked as a Lecturer in emergency nursing through the UM Ghana Emergency Medical Collaborative living and working at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Komfo Anyoke Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana. In addition to training the first group of emergency specialty nurses in Sub-Saharan Africa I also designed and implemented a large scale interdisciplinary teamwork training program aimed at increasing interdisciplinary teamwork.
My role at Michigan Medicine for the past 5-years has been working with youth as an FNP with Community Health Services Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools program at Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti. Where I work with team comprised of a Nurse Practitioner, Medical Assistant, Social worker, and dietician.

ORGANIZING EXPERIENCE
Over this past year's schism I have learned many skills that will be directly applicable to running a successful contract campaign (i.e., mobilizing members, getting out the vote, and advocacy within the broader labor movement). Prior to being appointed as interim secretary/treasurer working on this successful campaign I helped organize a group of miscategorized APRNs at Michigan Medicine gain entry to the bargaining unit. During this time I worked closely with labor reps and organizers fighting against an administration that dragged their feet, threatened our employment, and even brought in an HR rep who prided herself in preventing unionization efforts at Walmart. Despite the resistance we persevered and gained better conditions and wages for the APRNs in my area. Some of whom got raises of 20-30%.
I would appreciate your vote and am looking forward to representing and advocating for all of you as the next UMPNC Vice-President.
