About the position
"Health Center" a large multi-practice, ambulatory care community health center seeks to fill openings for qualified, Nurse Practitioners. Services
  • Diagnosis and treatment of acute health problems such as infections and injuries
  • Diagnosis, treatment, monitoring of chronic disease such as diabetes and high blood pressure
  • Prescription medications and specialist referrals
  • Health maintenance care for adults, including annual physicals, well-woman exams, contraception
  • Mental health assessment and support for conditions such as anxiety, depression and stress
  • Educational programs and services for topics such as first aid/CPR, childbirth preparation, exercise, nutrition counselling and smoking cessation
  • Pre-natal care provided by Nurse Practitioners and Certified Nurse Midwives
  • Pediatric Care (infant through adolescence) including sick- and well-child exams and immunizations

Responsibilities
Responsibility to provide direct primary and/or specialty health care to patients and families in acute inpatient and/or outpatient settings; to provide health education to patients; and to provide educational experiences for health care professionals and students.

Duties
  • Assess, diagnose and treat health problems for a defined primary care patient population.
  • Perform health assessments including patient history, physical examinations, diagnostic tests and appropriate interventions or referrals.
  • Pediatric Care (infant through adolescence) including sick- and well-child exams and immunizations
  • Mental health assessment and support for conditions such as anxiety, depression and stress
  • Health maintenance care for adults, including annual physicals, well-woman exams, contraception.
  • Document patient care and progress and maintain complete and detailed patient records.
  • Provide health education.
  • Develop and implement patient education programs.
  • Present workshops, lectures and in-service programs.
  • Serve as a preceptor for graduate nursing and nurse practitioner students.
  • Participate in the development of policies, procedures and protocols including standards of care.
  • Participate in research projects.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in clinical nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner Continuing Education Program is necessary.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate specialty by a National Credentialing Organization is necessary.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary.
  • Three to four years experience as a R.N. is necessary, preferably in the clinical specialty.
