Primary Objectives

  • Unite our LBU by engaging members and former reps from both sides of schism in meaningful dialog, mobilization, and action.
  • Defend, protect and advance our members and contract.
  • Increase union Democracy and Participation through outreach and education and increased opportunities for participation.
  • Ensure that we have the voices of all nurses heard prior to negotiations through rounding, ADO's and survey data collection.
  • Recruit and develop a cadre of union reps on every unit and every shift.
  • Modernize our information and communications infrastructure via the continued development of a “rep-tech” --a suite of web and app-based tools and techniques to improve communication and access for members and to increase member engagement and union democracy Click for rep-tech
  • Convene a committee of workload chairs to better understand working conditions, develop strategies, and to implement targeted organizing campaigns and interventions.
  • Develop union auxiliary comprised of supporters from the labor community along with patients, families, and friends. This auxiliary will be able to picket for and with us while we are barred by labor law and our contract from doing so.
  • Ensure that we are organized, unified and ready to mobilize for a fight.
  • Coordinate with broader labor community to achieve mutually beneficial goals via AFL-CIO Huron Valley Labor Federation and the All Campus Labor Council.
  • Hold management accountable for their ignoring and favorable misinterpretation of our contract language.
  • Develop and nurture an organizational structure to have new officers and reps every election cycle. The more experienced our rank and file are the stronger our union will be.
  • Leverage my unique set of education and experience in data analyses, organizational science, and strategic consulting to fight for improved conditions and pay for our members
